সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক মন্ত্রনালয়ের অধীন আরকাইভস ও গ্রন্থাগার অধিদপ্তরে রাজস্ব খাতভুক্ত নিম্নোক্ত পদসমূহে বাংলাদেশের প্রচলিত আইন অনুযায়ী জনবল নিয়োগের লক্ষে পদের পাশে বর্ণিত শর্তে প্রকৃত বাংলাদেশি নাগরিকদের নিকট হতে Job Circular-2023 এর মাধ্যমে অনলাইনে আবেদন আহবান করা হচ্ছে।

Online applications are invited from genuine Bangladeshi citizens through Job Circular-2023 under the conditions mentioned next to the posts in order to recruit manpower for the following posts under the revenue sector in the Directorate of Archives and Libraries under the Ministry of Culture.

১৮৯১ সনের ১১ মার্চ কোলকাতায় ইমপেরিয়াল রেকর্ড ডিপার্টমেন্ট প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ১৯৪৭ সনে দেশ বিভাগের পর ইমপেরিয়াল রেকর্ড ডিপার্টমেন্টই ন্যাশনাল আরকাইভস অব ইন্ডিয়া নামে পরিচিতি পায়। ১৯৫১ সনের নভেম্বরে করাচীতে ডাইরেক্টরেট অব আরকাইভস এন্ড লাইব্রেরিস এর অধীনে ন্যাশনাল আরকাইভস অব পাকিস্তান প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। স্বাধীনতা পূর্বকালে তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগার প্রতিষ্ঠার উদ্দেশ্যে উক্ত অফিসের শাখা অফিস হিসেবে ঢাকার মোহাম্মদপুরের নূরজাহান রোডের ভাড়া বাড়িতে ‘‘ডেলিভারী অব বুকস এন্ড নিউজ পেপার শাখা’’ নামে একটি অফিস চালু ছিল। জাতীয় আরকাইভস এর কোন শাখা পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে ছিল না।

বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের শেষ সময়ে উক্ত অফিসের দায়িত্বে ছিলেন জনাব মোঃ আবুল হাশেম। যুদ্ধ চলাকালে সহকারী পরিচালক জনাব সাহাবুদ্দিন খান করাচী থেকে চলে এসে সেখানে যোগদান করেন। স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধ শেষে তারা ১০৩ পুরাতন এলিফ্যান্ট রোডে একটি পরিত্যক্ত বাড়ীর দোতলায় শাখাটি স্থানান্তর করেন।

মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের মূল্যবান দলিলসমূহসহ সরকারের স্থায়ী রেকর্ডস ও আরকাইভস সমূহ সংরক্ষণের গুরুত্ব অনুধাবন করে ১৯৭২ সনে জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান এর নির্দেশনায় সদ্য স্বাধীন গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের ক্রীড়া ও সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক বিভাগের অধীনে জাতীয় আরকাইভস ও জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগার এর সমন্বয়ে আরকাইভস ও গ্রন্থাগার পরিদপ্তর প্রতিষ্ঠা করে।

১৯৭৪ সনের ৩ জানুয়ারি সরকার জাতীয় আরকাইভস ও জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগারের জন্য ৩২, বিচারপতি এস.এম মোর্শেদ সরণি, আগারগাঁও, শেরেবাংলা নগর এর বর্তমান জায়গায় ২ একর করে মোট ৪ একর জমি বরাদ্দ করে। প্রথম পাঁচশালা পরিকল্পনার আওতায় জাতীয় আরকাইভস ও জাতীয় গ্রন্থাগারের স্থায়ী ভবন নির্মাণের জন্য সরকারের নিকট প্রকল্প প্রস্তাব দাখিল করা হয়। শেরেবাংলা নগরের অন্যান্য ভবনসমূহের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে স্থপতি খন্দকার মাজহারুল ইসলাম এর নেতৃত্বে ভবনটির স্থাপত্য নকশা তৈরি করা হয়।

The Imperial Record Department was established in Calcutta on 11 March 1891. After the partition of the country in 1947, the Imperial Records Department came to be known as the National Archives of India. The National Archives of Pakistan was established in Karachi in November 1951 under the Directorate of Archives and Libraries. An office called “Delivery of Books and News Paper Branch” was operating in a rented house on Noorjahan Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, as a branch office of the office in pre-independence period for the purpose of establishing the National Library in the then East Pakistan. The National Archives had no branch in East Pakistan.

Mr. Md. Abul Hashem was in charge of the office during the last period of Bangladesh’s independence war. During the war, Assistant Director Mr. Sahabuddin Khan moved from Karachi and joined there. After the War of Independence, they moved the branch to the second floor of an abandoned house at 103 Old Elephant Road.

Realizing the importance of preserving the permanent records and archives of the government including the valuable documents of the Great Liberation War, in 1972 under the guidance of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the newly independent People’s Republic of Bangladesh Government established the Department of Archives and Libraries under the Department of Sports and Culture Affairs of the Ministry of Education

On January 3, 1974, the government allocated a total of 4 acres of land at the present site of 32, Justice SM Morshed Sarani, Agargaon, Sherebangla Nagar for the National Archives and National Library. A project proposal was submitted to the government for the construction of permanent buildings for the National Archives and National Libraries under the first five-year plan. The architectural design of the building was created under the leadership of architect Khandkar Mazharul Islam in harmony with other buildings in Sher-e-Bangla city. .
